All indirect fire weapons can exploit the brand new Artillery Computer. This feature initiates an interface where you can see your weapon, and the associated minimal and maximal ranges on the map. You may adjust your fire mode in the menu to the right and select the target area that your ordinance will strike.

Next in the line-up of military simulators, this huge add-on for the recently released Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead deploys on August 26th and delivers a new campaign, numerous single missions and a brand new faction, expanding upon the already epic collection offered up by Arma 2's mil-sim sandbox.

Players take on the role of British paratroopers and engage the enemy on an asymmetric battlefield. Less than two months after Operation Arrowhead successfully routed the Takistani military regime, NATO coalition forces face a large-scale outbreak of guerilla insurgency. A mechanized force of British troops is about to deploy and embark upon a large-scale counter-insurgency campaign, which will define the future of the coalition presence in Takistan: Operation "Crimson Lance".

Next up in the series of video updates introducing the unique features of Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead is the High Command tutorial video, which showcases one of this unique mil-sim's lesser-known - but exciting - gameplay features. This video walkthrough gives you a sneak-peak of the tutorial available in-game, and demonstrates the simplicity of commanding larger groups of units: issuing direct orders, setting waypoints and conditions, and assigning the behavior of groups of units. Getting to grips with the simple command interface is important, and doing so reveals an entirely distinct type of gameplay experience.

 

From night vision goggles to weapon-mounted flashlights, the teaser discloses the realistic features of Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead's new additions and includes a detailed looks at its revolutionary thermal imaging simulation, which sets a new standard of accuracy for FLIR implementations in tactical games.

The depth of Bohemia's attention to creating an impeccably detailed simulation is underlined by the inclusion of realistic restrictions on certain weapon scopes when used in conjection with night vision equipment, the visibility of infra-red beams and beacons with night vision and FLIR equipment and even realistic behaviour of weapon-mounted flashlights, both in terms of movement and visibility to the enemy.

This video introduces Operation Arrowheads newly-added tutorial missions, which are designed to allow players of all experience levels to train with the various weapons and vehicles featured in the massive standalone expansion. The videos narration provides invaluable insight and advice while the player is taught how to use handheld weapons, grenade launchers and Javelin portable missiles, along with basic training in the use of sniper rifles.

Video details one of the single player missions in Operation Arrowheads full-size campaign mode. Piloting an AH-64D Apache, the demonstrator safely hides his helicopter within firing range of the targets before switching controls to remotely pilot a Little Bird helicopter UAV equipped with FLIR vision. Using the drones immensely powerful camera to zoom in on the objective from a safe distance, designate targets and even initiate Hellfire missile launches from the players own Apache, all without being detected or even seen by the enemy.

Three years after the conflict in Chernarus, portrayed in the original ARMA 2, a new flashpoint in the Green Sea region heats up and coalition forces led by the US Army are sent to Takistan to quickly restore peace and prevent further civilian casualties in the unstable region.

 

Takistani Army is equipped with a mixture of Cold-War-era equipment of both Eastern and Western bloc origin, supplied during the interregnum of 1988-91. Local or supreme warlords command and control military manpower across local tribal forces. Several main factions control military vehicles and aircraft either stolen from or supplied by the Soviets; however, their numbers and capabilities are limited.

The „Eagle Wing mini-campaign expands upon one of the seven unique endings of the original ARMA 2 over two extensive new missions: It's the year 2012, the war in Chernarus has overgrown into a conflict between the USA and the Russian Federation.
